Basic Granola

I can’t tell you how many times in the past few months I’ve made a batch of this. My kids don’t like oatmeal, but they will snack on this like it’s their favorite candy. They much prefer grits as a hot cereal (southern genes maybe?).

This is a recipe for basic granola, but the possibilities are endless on what you can add to it. Try adding Your favorite nuts, seeds, or dried fruit. I found the recipe for it here.

Preheat oven to 300 F and measure out three cups of rolled oats (not instant or the quick kind).

Add brown sugar, cinnamon and salt to the oats and stir to combine.

Place honey, oil and vanilla in a small bowl to combine, then pour over the oats. Mix together and spread evenly over a cookie sheet.

Bake the oats for 15 minutes, stir, and continue baking until the granola is light golden brown.

Once out of the oven, let cool and break into bite sized pieces. You can even put it in a cute little jar like this 🙂

My favorite way to enjoy this is mixed with Greek yogurt with strawberries and blueberries on top!
